Six Years Later, Still 2020. Meanwhile We've Got Real Problems

Tonight the president gets primetime. Every network, the whole country watching. And he's going to spend it on the 2020 election. Again.

Let that sit for a second. Six years later, after audit upon audit, many run by Republicans and one by his own former attorney general, all finding no real fraud, that is the thing he wants our undivided attention for. Voting machines and a loss he still won't accept.

We'll keep it real. Nobody in our neighborhoods is losing sleep over 2020. We've got an actual list, and that's not on it.

So here's what we'd rather hear tonight.

Talk about the money. Rent is too high, groceries cost a fortune, and gas still stings every time we fill up. That hits Black families hardest, because the wealth gap didn't happen by accident. You've got the biggest mic in the world tonight. Point it at that.

Talk about our businesses. Black founders still get less than one percent of the venture money in this country. Not because the ideas aren't there, we've watched people build empires on scraps, but because the access isn't. Tell us what you're doing about capital, contracts, and a real shot.

Talk about our kids and our schools. HBCUs turn out a huge share of Black doctors, lawyers, and engineers while running on fumes. The schools teaching our children are fighting for basics. That's the future you'd be investing in. 2020 is the past you can't let go of.

Talk about our health. Black women are still dying in childbirth at rates that should shame a country this rich. That's not fate. That's policy nobody's fixed yet. Spend primetime on that and you'd actually save lives.

Talk about safety, all the way honest. People want to be safe from violence and safe when they deal with the systems that are supposed to protect them. Families are burying loved ones right now after federal agents opened fire. Say something real about that.

And if it has to be about voting, then talk about protecting the right to vote, not poisoning trust in it. Our people marched and died for the ballot. Any election speech that skips that is talking around us, not to us.

Here's the bottom line. A president gets only so many nights with the whole country tuned in. Burning one on a grudge from 2020, while folks are doing math at the grocery store and praying their kids' school gets funded, tells you exactly where we rank. Even people in his own party are saying they don't see the point of relitigating an election from six years ago.

We're not asking for magic. We're asking to matter more than an old wound. We've got a list. Just once, we'd love to hear a president read from it.
